Mas Preparaciones Para Mi Viaje a Mexico

I finalized my flight reservations through a little bit of finagling with a phone representative, which resulted in me being granted a $4 credit on CheapTickets.com. (As long as I use that four dollars within the next twelve months.) So that is a huge load off my back, now I can set about making reservations in the handful of cities I need to visit during my trip (Oaxaca, Puerto Escondido, El Ciruelo, Cuajinicuilapa, and Acapulco). I found a super nice place in Oaxaca to stay for a few days while I meet with some people at the Universidad Autonoma "Benito Juarez" de Oaxaca (UABJO, or the "UBanjo" as I like to refer to it); it's close to the bus stop and city center, and highly recommended. From then on, places to stay will get gradually smaller and cheaper along with the cities they are in, until I find myself staying in a presbytery in a small town of 3,000 people. But not to worry, because Shewara discovered Skype, meaning I can call her for free whenever I feel like it, as long as there's a computer around.

Now all I need is my malaria pills, typhoid vaccine, and copious amounts of anti-diarrheal medication, and I am good to go!

I Got My Peruvian Food!

Shewara and I went back to the restaurant and I got everything I wanted: tasty ceviche, anticuchos, and lucuma mousse just like I remember from Peru. The waitstaff was quick and responsive, and we got our food in a jiffy. I think the big difference was going at lunchtime, when it was far less crowded (that and calling ahead to be absolutely sure that they had all the food I wanted that day.) Check out my tasty eats:

Mmm...tasty!
